International Symposium on Archives of Quaternary River Basin Erosion

06 – 10 April 2024 – Galera, Andalusia, Spain
Registration deadline 30.11.2023

We are pleased to invite you to take part in the international symposium that will be held in Galera, a small town in the northeast of the newly established UNESCO Granada Geopark. All participants are welcome to present their recent studies in oral or poster presentation. Furthermore we are looking forward to having interesting discussions and exchange of new ideas during the symposium and during fieldtrips. This symposium is being held as part of a larger research project funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation). The conference will last 5 days starting with two days of oral and poster presentations and three final days of field trips. During these field trips, we will discover numerous stunning sites within the Guadix-Baza Basin. This basin is famous for the first finds of Hominids in Europe and provides an unprecedented density of Plio-Pleistocene vertebrate fauna. An extensive repertory of natural archives offers insights into Quaternary river erosion forming spectacular fragmented sceneries.

We asked for financial support at the INQUA Commission on Stratigraphy and Chronology (SACCOM) to make assistance for ECS (early career scientists) possible. Interested ECS please announce their intention to participate asap, as the deadline for financial support will expire end of September.
